The CyPass®, a new FDA approved surgical treatment for glaucoma, consists of a microstent that is implanted at the time of cataract surgery.

Today, June 15th, 2017 marked a first in our practice as well as around the country. Drs. Buznego and Cruz were among the first in South Florida to implant this amazing new option in patients at our Surgery Center in Miami. Cypass is a form of “Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery” oftentimes referred to as MIGS.

There are other MIGS options, but this is the newest and has seen some incredible results throughout the clinical trial period that gained its approval.

Implanted at the time of cataract surgery, the CyPass® Micro-Stent was shown to lower IOP for more patients than cataract surgery alone.

The Cypass Micro-Stent boasts a unique design for enhanced outflow and the procedure boasts a minimally invasive, intuitive approach.

If you have been diagnosed with potential glaucoma or minimal glaucoma and you may have a cataract, please call us to inquire about this procedure with our physicians at 305-598-2020.
